Our story

Mekhong is a locally owned business and recently opened in McFarland. The owner Neng and his wife are very personable and welcoming. The atmosphere is relaxed and has a center bar with plenty of lobby space. The food is amazing, I opted in for laab beef, papaya salad, chicken wings, chicken feet and Ko Phong! Everything was delicious! If you enjoy Hmong/Lao/Thai food then please go support this restaurant! Heads up they’re only open in the evening for now. Go and enjoy! 🙏🏽 👌🏽

This Hmong-owned restaurant/banquet hall, The Mekong, might be out of the way compared to all the other Hmong-owned stores/businesses/restaurants in the area, but it certainly doesn’t lose out to those establishments! We ordered the egg roll, Hmong sausage (with sticky rice), angel wing, beef larb (with sticky rice), papaya salad (with sticky rice), and nam vanh. IMO, this is the Madison area's best choice for Southeast Asian dishes - authentic Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. We sampled several appetizers and entrees, and each one was cooked and served with perfection. We are definitely coming back soon!

We had some less-than-superb experiences when they first opened, but I'm eating luncch here now and it's fantastic. I'm the only customer here, but the service was speedy and the food is magnificent. So happy McFarland finally has a quality thai restaurant. We'll be coming back a lot.
